MEET THE TRAINER
McKenzie Dewar
Certified Professional Dog Trainer
McKenzie is from Goochland, Virginia. She grew up loving and caring for animals. She attended the University of Virginia and received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology. After college, she worked for 3 years as a dog walker and pet sitter in Richmond. She then went on to attend and graduate from National K9 School for Dog Trainers and received her certification as a Professional Dog Trainer. She received endorsements in obedience training, behavioral counseling, puppy development, and customer relations with dog owners. She also received endorsements in retrieval, owner protection, assistance dog training, tracking/trailing, scent detection, and basic police K-9. After finishing school, McKenzie worked as a trainer for one of the largest kennels on the East Coast located in Richmond, Virginia.
McKenzie trained her dog Gus to compete in AKC Obedience receiving her first CD title when Gus was only 10 months old. She is currently training Gus to compete in AKC and UKC Hunt Tests.
McKenzie is a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association, UKC Hunting Retriever Club and is an AKC CGC Approved Evaluator.
